The people of the South East, also known as the Igbos have replied to the Northerners who earlier threatened them with food supply blockage. A formidable organization that unites all the Town Unions in the region stated that the Igbos can provide food for themselves.
The leader of the group, Emeka Diwe, in a press release on the 2nd February, 2020, stated that they would, in a temporary time, end what he called flight of capital induced by the imperial activities of the Northern cartels in agriculture on the people of South East.
The group disclosed that the Blockage of food sales to them would not shake them in any way, or make them start running from pillar to post to seek assistance as some people might expect.
Diwe, in the release, said that the development had assisted them in their plans to achieve food sufficiency.
The group noted that their aim was to promote continuous home return of the wealth of the people of South East by so doing, unveiling the rich capabilities of all segments of their indigenous economy, and make employment and creation of wealth so easy for the people of south East.
They revealed that they were ready for it, adding that it had facilitated the tangibility of their plans, and expidited their agenda which was to send their wealth home to enable them to make their land a hub of success and prosperity within the black community.
It was earlier reported that some groups in the northern Nigeria threatened to stop food sales to the southern Nigeria.
Middle Belt has however renounced the move to stop food sales to the southern Nigeria, saying they were not ready to spoil the prevailing relationship between them and their good brothers in the south.
