There have been mystical beings in existence as far back as humans can remember or even comprehend. In fact, it is believed that mystical creatures have been in existence way before human existence.
Each tribe has its own deity worshipped by the people of that tribe which I believe we all know. So here in this article, i will be revealing one of the deities that's worshipped in Igbo land, and why he is still being feared and revered even after so many centuries.
"Amadioha", who is also known as "Alusi" or "Agbara" is referred to as "Egbe-Eligwe" which means "Gun Of The Sky" by the Igbos. He is also known or referred to as "Amadiora", "Kamalu", or "Ofufe" and he is definitely one of the most popular and dreaded deities of the Igbos.
According to Astrologers, he governs the planet Sun. Red is his colour and his symbol is a white Ram. It is also believed that Amadioha represents the collective will of the people. The day appointed to serving in is "Afor" --- which is the third market day of the Igbo's four day week.

Although, shrines to Amadioha still exists in most parts of Igboland, but it is believed that the main shrine is located in Rivers State --- Ihiokpu, Ozuzu in Etche Local Government Area to be precise.
Listed Below Are Three Reasons Why The Igbos Still Fear Amadioha.
1. He is feared because he is the god of justice.
This is the first and foremost reason why this deity is being feared by the Igbo people. It is believed that Amadioha brings every guilty persons to justice through lightning and thunder. As matter of fact, it is believed that anyone judged guilty by Amadioha would either be killed by lightning (leaving a black mark on the person's forehead) or attacked by a swarm of bees, and the body is left unburied.
2. He is feared because he is the god of love, peace and unity.
Although, Amadioha is a dreaded deity in the Igbo land because of the way he carries out his judgement/justice. However, he still a god of love, peace and unity. He is also being prayed through for increase in crops, for children and for benevolence.
3. He is feared because he is believed to be the creator god.
Amadioha is also believed to be a creator god by some traditions. These traditions believed that human beings were made by him after he sent a bolt of lightning to strike a Cotton Tree. After the splitting of the Cotton Tree, it revealed/created a man and a woman.
